Rental Terms
What applies from the moment you take a Keyhaven vehicle until the keys are back.
1 · Eligibility and documents
Self-drive renters must be at least 23 years old and hold a valid Nigerian driver’s licence for a minimum of two years. Before handover we verify your licence, one government-issued ID (NIN, international passport or voter’s card) and a recent utility bill.
2 · Handover and return inspection
Every rental begins and ends with a documented, photographed inspection which both parties acknowledge. The handover record — fuel level, mileage, existing marks — is the sole reference for the return. Vehicles are returned with the same fuel level as issued or the difference is charged at pump price plus a service margin.
3 · Reservation deposit and the balance
A booking is confirmed by a reservation deposit of 20% of the rental. Until that deposit is received the dates are not held, and the vehicle remains available to other customers.
The remaining balance is due within 24 hours of the deposit, or 3 days before pickup — whichever comes first.
If the balance is not received by that deadline the booking is cancelled, the vehicle is released, and the reservation deposit is retained. Any amount paid above the deposit is refunded in full.
A deposit is returned in full if the booking is cancelled within 72 hours of being made.
4 · Security deposit
The deposit for each vehicle is displayed before booking, held separately, and never treated as revenue. It is released in full within 72 hours of a clean return inspection. Where damage, fines or excess mileage are recorded, itemised costs are deducted with evidence provided, and the balance returned.
5 · Chauffeur service
A chauffeured booking buys a TWELVE-HOUR shift, not a full day. The shifts are 7am – 7pm, 8am – 8pm, 7pm – 7am, 8pm – 8am — you choose one when booking.
On a booking of several days the same shift runs each day: your driver arrives at the start time and stands down at the end time, every day of the rental. A chauffeur does not work around the clock, and no single driver covers 24 hours.
If you need cover outside your chosen shift, ask before the rental begins and we will quote a second driver or an extended arrangement. Hours worked beyond the shift are chargeable.
6 · Use of the vehicle
The vehicle may only be driven by the named renter (or our chauffeur). Interstate trips require prior written approval. Prohibited without exception: sub-letting, racing, driving under the influence, carrying illegal goods, and use for commercial passenger transport.
Late returns beyond a one-hour grace period accrue an hourly rate; beyond six hours, a full additional day. If you need longer, request an extension — approvals depend only on the next booking.
7 · Insurance and incidents
All rentals carry comprehensive insurance. Your selected tier sets the excess you bear: Basic (standard excess), Premium (reduced), Zero Excess (none). In any incident: ensure safety first, call the 24/7 line before any third-party negotiation, and do not admit liability. An unreported incident voids excess protection.
